Employment Benefits for Overseas Recruited Teachers
- The singles housing allowance is determined using an index of new rental contracts in the month of June for a 1.5 bedroom apartments at South Horizon complex.
In the case of overseas hired teachers with an approved dependent the teacher will receive a housing allowance of 1.4 times the single housing allowances. Teaching couples who are hired overseas will receive 1.7 times the single housing allowance. Married teaching couples with one dependent child will receive 2.2 times the single housing allowance and with two dependent children will receive 2.6 times the single allowance.
Housing allowance are recalculated annually using an approved index for the month of June. Housing allowances are paid in advance and are paid for a 12-month period.
Please note the dependent must have been declared and agreed to by the school upon at the signing of the initial employment contract.
- Economy airfare from home of record to Hong Kong and return and the successful conclusion of contract for self and one dependent per teaching contract.
- Economy airfare to and from home of record for summer leave for self and one dependent per teaching contract.
- Matching 10% retirement contribution of base salary paid into pension fund with investment options.
- 10 days sick leave per annum
- International medical, hospitalization and travel insurance (including basic dental) for self and one dependent per teaching contract
- Worker's compensation insurance as per Hong Kong law
- Tuition free HKA enrollment for 1 dependent child per individual contract
- All work visa and residency fees for teachers and qualified dependents
- Relocation allowance of 15,000 HK$ per single teaching contract paid in cash on arrival in Hong Kong. In the case of teaching couples and teacher with approved dependent(s) this amount is multiplied by dependents/couples’ housing ratio. (i.e. Teacher with one dependent is multiplied by 1.4).
- Annual Professional Development Allowance of 10,000 HK$ which can be accumulated for up to three years. Basic IB training and other school initiated Professional Development is paid for directly by the school. Therefore the allowance can be used to pursue other individual professional development goals.
- Free Mandarin language lessons
- Baggage & Shipping Allowance of 12,000 HK$ per teaching contract upon presentation of receipts to and from Hong Kong. In the case of teaching couples and teacher with approved dependent(s) this amount is multiplied by dependent/couples’ housing ratio. (i.e. Teacher with one dependent is multiplied by 1.4).
- Up to 5 days leave for attending a recruiting fair for non-returning faculty upon approval of the Head of School.
- Bereavement Leave (a death in the immediate family) of 5 days with airline tickets.
- Leave with pay up to 2 days per annum upon approval of Head of School.
